affected by Sickle Cell Disease, is developing a
state-of-the-art web site that will provide the latest
information about Sickle Cell Disease and create
a network for families to share their experiences
- The Loved World by Tamar Geller at The
Giving Back Fund rescues shelter dogs and helps
reduce recidivism of prison inmates
- Shawn Marion establishes The Shawn
Marion Foundation at The Giving Back Fund to
support single parent families
- The Ben Roethlisberger Foundation at The
Giving Back Fund distributed more than $150,000
in grants to Police K-9 units across the country
during its first grant cycle. Please revisit the

Scholarship Applications
- Shane and Heidi Battier provide scholarships
for members of the Boys and Girls Club of South
Oakland through; applications available from the
Executive Director's office
- La'Roi Glover Foundation at The Giving Back
Fund provides scholarships for high school
seniors at Point Loma High School in San Diego;
applications available in the Guidance office
- Jalen Rose Foundation at The Giving Back
Fund is currently reviewing scholarship
applications. All applicants will be notified by mail
of the results.

Oprah Winfrey tops the inaugural Giving
Back 30, a list compiled by The Giving
Back Fund of the celebrities who have
made the largest personal public
donations to charity in 2006. Rounding
out the top five are the estates of the late
fashion designer Geoffrey Beene and the
late actor Jack Lord and his wife Marie,
singer/actress Barbra Streisand, and
golfer Tiger Woods.
